IE 7 Tweaks?

Ever since I did a re format--IE 7 is running just a touch slower then usual. Not a huge inconvienience, but can anyone walk me through the settings or suggest a few tweaks that might make it a bit more snappy? I have high-speed cable internet.

IE 7 Tweaks?internet explorer

IE7 is one of those Microsoft products that really can't be speeded up. It is what it is. You can turn off the anti-phishing. And you can do the usual cleaning of the system cache. Click tools %26gt; Delete Browsing History %26gt; click on whatever you'd like to delete. At a minimum temp files, cookies and history are always good to delete every so often. Old cookies or temp files can slow things down quite a bit.

Then there are some of the time saving things you can have IE7 do. Like automatically switching to new tabs. Click tools %26gt; internet options %26gt; general tab. In the tabs group (above appearance) click settings and in the new dialog box check the box next to "Always switch to new tabs when they are created". Keep clicking OK to back out.

A quicker way to open a link in a new tab is to hold down Ctrl when you click the link. You can also open sites from the address bar in a new tab. Type the address and then press Alt+Enter.

You can open multiple pages in a single IE7 screen and each page will have its own tab. But screen resolution might limit the total number of tabs you can see. So IE7 has a quick tabs feature which displays a thumbnail image of each open web page.

1. Open all the web pages you want in separate tabs.

2. Click the Quick Tabs button (just to the right of the star and + sign) or press Ctrl+Q. A thumbnail of each web page is shown.

3. Click on the web page you want to view

IE Defender Cannot be Removed!!!?

It appears that every second i have the same thing popping up saying that my computer has been hijacked and i need to download blah blah..... I know its IE Defender, but i dont know how to get rid of it. I tried that thing on bleepin computers but i was having trouble with it, i tried deleting it, and still no success. IEDefender is a rogue anti-spyware application that displays exaggerated security alerts difficult to close in an attempt to trick you into purchasing the full IEDefender version.

Your web browser is hijacked and will display a fake error message in order to confuse you into believing it鈥檚 coming from the search engine itself. IE Defender error message states that you鈥檙e infected with spyware and that you need to download IEDefender to solve your problem. This is not true. IE Defender is trying to trick you into purchasing the full version of the product. Remove IEDefender as soon as possible. In the link I'm providing, you may read all about IEDefender and the instructions to remove this rogue anti-spyware.good luck.

work in safe mode!
spybot, updated, run in safe mode.
After several hours of effort I got rid of it by using the manual fix described at bleepingcomputer.com, modified in two ways.

!. When deleting files from C\Windows\System32 do so in Safe Mode.

2. Don't rely on the list of file names to delete. Arrange the files in the System32 directory by date modified, and delete files modified at the time that you were infected - but copy them to a memory stick first just in case you are deleting the wrong ones.
IEDefender is an extremely dangerous rogue software created by programmers from Russia. It may be installed manually (from www.iedefender.com) or using security holes. Once the IEDefender is installed, it will start showing fake security messages that your system is in danger and will trick you into buying its full version. IEDefender may steal your secret information (passwords, credit card numbers, PayPal accounts). IEDefenders work may damage Windows registry and cause system slowdowns and crashes. It may be difficult to remove IEDefender manually because it loads on every Windows startup and has an ability to renew itself if you try to remove it.

IE shortcuts have changed file ext. Why?

I recently got a BT Home Hub. Suddenly my internet pages were all opening with BT Yahoo browser which I've managed to get rid of but I can't find the way to stop the change in saving to desktop, so that when I save an IE link to my desktop it saves as a mht file instead of html and does not update. When I open the link the address starts off "C:\Documents and Settings" instead of "http://www". It's really annoying - does anyone know how I can reinstate the html version?

Many thanks.

If you are using IE (and really, why haven't you switched to Mozilla Firefox?) and you don't have a Yahoo toolbar, then go to Internet Options, go to Contents tab, Click on Autocomplete and Clear Forms.

If you have Mozilla (congrats, you have a safer and more stable browser), just go to Tools/Options/Privacy/Saved Forms and clear forms.

Why does my IE keep shutting down when I try to close a page?

When I go into my mail, or look @ a web site, and then try to close it out, my IE says there is an APPCRASH and the IE tries to "fix" it. It ends up shutting off my internet.

try reinstalling it,, or an uninstall then reinstall. or try to see if there is an update.. Also do a virus scan,, you might have a bug. www.trend.com use the free scan
you have a component that is broken. i would suggest going into options and then deleting all temporary files and objects.

This might be trying to protect your computer. If might not let you go on some "questionably un-secure" sights. This is to prvent phishing, viruses, trojan highjackers, etc.
you're right, the site you provided us with doesn't work with IE 7.0 but real fine with FireFox 2.0

so dump IE 7.0 and switch to firefox!!!

no just kidding, you have to keep IE 7.0 even if it stinks.

My piece of advice : use firefox everytime you can and IE 7.0 only when you can't do otherwise (ie microsoft updates need IE 7.0 or websites with activeX require IE ... but there are getting fewer and fewer)
